We originally planned to stay 2 weeks at Firefly Hills and ended up extending an extra week. We’re so thankful for the time and effort that Troy & Tonja have put into this campground. This is a well thought out family park. The things they have for the kiddos to roam around and play is unlike any other; examples are a mud kitchen, wooded play area where you can use your imagination endlessly, trails, paracord spiderweb and more! We stayed at the site nearest to the house. It was so pretty to open our windows in the morning and see this beautiful 100 year old home with rich history and ghostly hauntings! We have a 45’ fifthwheel, dually and suv and we fit with plenty of room. All sites are perfectly level with full hookups. There’s a ton of trails and things to do within a reasonable distance. The area is incredibly safe and you won’t want to leave!

This was our first time here and we cannot wait to come back! This was our first time exploring this area and it was beautiful especially in the fall. I love the outdoor space they have at firefly hills! My kids were outside all day exploring! The hammocks, the web, the ropes course, pickleball, walking trails swings so much for us to do! We stayed in the boondocking area and had a great view! 😍 They have already done so much and are continuing to work and improve. We can’t wait to come back! Troy and Tonya are so kind and welcoming and are doing such a great job!!

A boutique style RV park perfect for families with unique children spaces, farm fresh eggs, a pick your own garden, friendly and welcoming staff along with spacious sites. The house also has beautifully decorated rooms available for rent. There are a couple large fire rings to gather around the campfire to connect & share stories of travels. Located in the beautiful Red River Gorge, there is an abundance of outdoor activities (hiking, rock climbing, swimming, etc.) within a short drive from the property. Our family enjoyed spending two weeks here during the fall & have plans to come back in the spring!

Original Review: Nestled in Beattyville, Kentucky, Firefly Hills provided an exceptional setting for our Full-time Families event, which was a resounding success! Firefly Hills offered the perfect blend of community spirit and natural beauty, making it an ideal destination for our gathering. The location was ideal for our group, allowing for natural socializing while respecting individual space. The community fire pits became organic gathering points each evening, where families shared stories and formed lasting connections. Children enjoyed the open spaces that provided opportunities to explore and make new friends, while parents appreciated knowing their families were in a safe and inclusive space. Tonja and Troy went above and beyond to ensure the event ran smoothly, embodying the park's mission of creating a welcoming environment for all. What a great place - we were lucky enough to get the pink room, although it was a pretty short term notice. Troy responded so quickly - and when we arrived, he was there to welcome us, showing us around and making us feel at home. Such a good experience- it’s quiet, but not too, you can rest in peace or join any of the activities, whatever you like. The room was extremely nice, so many details in there! The kitchen is fully equipped, nothing more to ask for, the bathroom is super clean and there is even a tub, if you like. Yoga mats, a garden, Wi-Fi and super nice hosts - thank you for everything, we will be back! Ps. Also highly recommended for climbers - not a long drive to all the crags!

We had a great time at Firefly Hills. We stayed in the house. The rooms were very nice. Comfy beds. We loved the setting- although we like being a little closer to things- and for those that want seclusion this is perfect. The hot tub we great at night to sit and look at the stars. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Definitely would stay here again.

We stayed in a rv spot over the summer for 2 months. The owners are great, they were friendly and did everything possible to meet any needs we had. The facilities were great the rv spots have full hook ups. They are very inclusive to all walks of life and extremely welcoming.

This place is an absolute gem! We extended our stay because it was such a great experience. We stayed in the farmhouse. They have put thought into every detail from the mattresses and sheets to hot tub towels, labeling everything in the kitchen, fresh flowers in the rooms, to a welcome sign with your name on it. Seriously five star. Tonya is a brilliant entrepreneur. She understands RVers and knows what they need. Plus she employs young people and spends time mentoring them in far more than cleaning. She plans events for the entire community. What a gift she is to this area. I LOVED that I could pick things out of her garden. I enhanced our pizza with fresh peppers, made eggplant Parmesan and had fresh kale with my steak that I grilled on the back deck. Plus we had farm fresh eggs every morning! The kitchen is so well stocked. We enjoyed a campfire as well as the hot tub. I could go on and on. What a wonderful place and family.

Firefly Hills has fantastic sites. They are LEVEL. The sewers are in thoughtful locations and actually flow with gravity. Owners and staff make everyone welcome. We spent 6 weeks here for our fall climbing in The Red River Gorge. Campground is Big Rig Friendly with plenty of space for parking. We are full timers and will return next year. :)

Our stay at Firefly Hills was magical to say the least. As a full time RVer this campground was literally and figuratively a breath of fresh air. My boys 11&13 adventured in the woods for hours, helped around the farm and absolutely loved it. Our pup ran free in the dog run that overlooks a beautiful pond. I loved being able to pick fresh veggies from the garden and turn them into a beautiful meal! Firefly Hills filled a deep need for us I didn’t even realize we had! We came in tired and left rejuvenated. Troy and Tonja’s focus on community and connection made us feel like family. We will for sure be returning to Firefly Hills!

Looking for an affordable place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life? A place that makes you feel welcomed and at home even though you’re away? Firefly Hills is the place to go! The rooms are spacious, beautiful and comfortable. The staff (the owners) are amazing! The location is perfect for the quiet relaxing setting you're looking for. The porch is huge with a swing (you do have to share with the manager, Ralph the cat)and plenty of seating to enjoy and see the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. The chickens across the street will be missed by my husband, they were his favorite. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place! Great people and beautiful location. We stayed in the new RV park with full hook-ups. Wifi works really well. Road to Firefly Hills is windy and somewhat narrow but doesn't have much traffic. We were able to make it there with no issues. It is sometimes hard to find a place in Kentucky and other "red" states where we feel comfortable as a gay couple. This place advertises as inclusive and we felt welcomed and not just tolerated. We were able to kayak on the Kentucky river which was the highlight of our stay. More like staying at a friend's house than staying at an RV park. We really enjoyed meeting the chickens, having fresh eggs, and working in the garden.

Please if you are in Kentucky, do not miss this gem of a place, Firefly Hills! It's run by a wonderful couple, Troy and Tonja, and trust me, it's not just lodging, it's EXPERIENCE. Firefly Hills is not only an RV park, they also rent rooms in their beautifully decorated farmhouse. There are three rooms which share a very large and comfortable bathroom. We were all by ourselves the first several days, but later when some other guests arrived, we didn't have any discomfort sharing the bathroom, everyone was cool and respectful to each other. We gathered on the front porch in the evenings or had a campfire and shared stories and it was such a wonderful quality time. I am not even mentioning a fresh vegetable garden everyone can use and a giant jacuzzi, which is an absolute delight! As far as RV park, RVers take notes: Troy and Tonja are building a huge RV repair shop, because they are RVers themselves and know how hard it is to find a place you can work on your rig. Firefly Hills is not just an RV park, it is a community! Needless to say, if we are ever in the area again, we know where to stay. Troy and Tonja, thank you so much for your hospitality and the unforgettable week.
